Thy Kingdom Come
Following the success of our October 2017 Deanery Synod meeting on the theme of “Growing in Prayer”, we are pleased to open our meeting once again to share practical prayer ideas in joining with the global prayer movement “Thy Kingdom Come”. How often we pray those words and yet time and time again, feel inadequate in our knowledge of HOW best to pray for those things important to us.

With the prayer movement “Thy Kingdom Come” we can join a global wave of prayer between 10-20 May (Ascension to Pentecost) choosing from an array of resource ideas: Praying through newspaper, Prayer walking, Praying with Scrabble / Lego, Praying across the Social Media Platform – just a fraction offered to us. Living on the coast, I found Praying in the Sand intriguing and immediately wanted to know more. The meeting will take place on Wednesday 28th February at 7 pm in St Mary’s Church, Bideford.

All welcome – and any queries to Penny on 01237 477264. We never know what will arise from our prayer, sharing and discussion, but it is always enlightening and often joyful and inspiring as we journey together as people of “The Way”.

The Northern Devon Foodbank (Christian charity) provides at least 3 days supply of nutritionally balanced food to people in crisis. Just in February 2016 we distributed the equivalent of 7826 meals to people in Torridge and North Devon Districts (a 30% increase on February 2015).

During the past year our annual operating costs have risen from £25,000 to £35,000 whilst our income has dropped. Government grants to the Community Projects who have supported us has been discontinued and our biggest supporter (Tesco) is cutting their grant from about £7,500 to £5,000.

We are asking the churches and church members to raise some cash support preferably by regular giving. Please can you help? Contact Duncan or Toni on 01237 422243. Thank you.
