The Sponsored drive for the Devon Historic Churches Trust was a success in spite of the rain. We visited 12 churches, drove 62 miles in 7hrs 25mins including lunch at the Merry Harriers and being marooned in St Anne’s church in Bucks Mills during a cloudburst.
Thank you to all who sponsored us, please put your money in the box on the church table at St Margaret`s and tick the right hand side of the form to tell me that you have paid. Mrs Margaret Ashman will be collecting for us at Holy Trinity. Half of the money will return to our treasurers, pro rata, for the roof fund and fabric fund.
Many thanks Di Hopkins 476663.

It is hoped to resurrect the Grapevine and have it available for Sunday 14th January 2018. Would people who would be interested in helping the production of this newsletter please contact Susan Hateley at the following susan1945hateley@gmail.com.
Lots of people will be needed to collate and staple the finished copies, this used to happen one afternoon a month at the Church. People to contribute copy about the various Church Activities and local attractions like Coffee Mornings etc.
Please help to make this venture a great success. Thank You.

Regular Meetings

‘Church on the Mat’
Church on the Mat - A half-hour Informal Service
- ALL WELCOME
A Mission Community-wide Sunday service, it will be held every Sunday at 9.10am at St Mary’s, Appledore, and last around 30 minutes. It is geared to suit families with young children, and the young at heart of all ages. Everyone welcome right across our Mission Community of Northam, Westward Ho! and Appledore. This service is an opportunity to hear Bible stories, have a good sing, join in with interactive forms of prayer and simple liturgy, all in an informal setting. Will you please help us get the message out to people in our community? * Come and see what goes on * Invite friends and neighbours to come along.

Prayer Groups

Prayer Focus Wednesdays 10.30am at St Margaret's
In our worship we are including a longer time for prayer to focus on the way ahead for the Mission Community.
Please join us in this new venture - All welcome.

Wayfarers Group (the new name for the 2016 Lent Group!) meets on the first Monday each month from 2 to 4 pm in Holy Trinity Church Hall for prayer and reflection on our daily lives, and that of our wider communities, in the light of the Easter story, letting what has happened help us to understand and deepen our faith as we explore one or more of the themes that emerge. All welcome – and any queries to Penny on 01237 477264. We never know what will arise from our prayer, sharing and discussion, but it is always enlightening and often joyful and inspiring as we journey together as people of “The Way”.

Knit and Nat Knit & Natter Group meets at Holy Trinity Hall in Westward Ho! on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays between 1.30 and 3.30pm, £1.50 per session to include tea/coffee and biscuits.  Recently the Northam Knit & Natter group have been given several hundred  beautiful, colourful blanket squares, some crocheted and some knitted. One blanket is already  finished and a second is being assembled. When the project is complete, the blankets will go to Christian Hope International, a charity based in Harold Wood, Essex which we have been working with for several years.
5 large blankets have now been finished and are on their way to the refugee camps on the borders of Syria. Two smaller lap rugs have gone to Donnington House care home for their new residents.

The Northern Devon Foodbank (Christian charity) provides at least 3 days supply of nutritionally balanced food to people in crisis. Just in February 2016 we distributed the equivalent of 7826 meals to people in Torridge and North Devon Districts (a 30% increase on February 2015).

During the past year our annual operating costs have risen from £25,000 to £35,000 whilst our income has dropped. Government grants to the Community Projects who have supported us has been discontinued and our biggest supporter (Tesco) is cutting their grant from about £7,500 to £5,000.

We are asking the churches and church members to raise some cash support preferably by regular giving. Please can you help? Contact Duncan or Toni on 01237 422243. Thank you.
